BAME organ, blood and stem cell donation review

Call for evidence

Eleanor Smith MP is launching a review into blood, stem cell and organ donation within the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community. It aims to uncover the experiences of this group and the barriers they face to donation, then form recommendations that can be implemented nationally to save lives.

Donation rates in the BAME community have been worryingly low for a number of years, and are likely to continue falling. Urgent action needs to be taken. With your support, this review will change that.

This public consultation is the first step of the review. Anyone can submit evidence on BAME organ, blood or stem cell donations via the questions below or by downloading the information pack.

The consultation is now closed. If you would like to submit please email david.bridson@parliament.uk.

Evidence can also be submitted by email to david.bridson@parliament.uk or by post to David Bridson, Office of Eleanor Smith MP, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.

By completing this call for evidence, you are consenting to the information being used for the purposes of the review and its outputs. You will be contacted before being named explicitly.

Consultation closes: 9 March

How the evidence will be used

The evidence submitted in this consultation will be reviewed by an independent panel of MPs. A summary draft of the written evidence will be presented to a stakeholder workshop. Using their feedback, oral evidence will be requested from selected participants. All evidence will be compiled into findings, from which recommendations will be drafted.

Tips for submissions

Whether you come from a large institution and have policy ideas, a small campaigning organisation, or have personal experience of organ, blood and stem cell donation, your thoughts and evidence will be valued. Please limit your answers to each question to 1000 words and provide us with any relevant links to support your comments.

Evidence can also be submitted by email to david.bridson@parliament.uk or by post to David Bridson, Office of Eleanor Smith MP, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.
