RuRu Hair is a London based social enterprise founded in 2019 by Ruth Odusanya Daniel, in tribute to her cousin Christy Monono who passed away from breast cancer aged 25.

Christy like many women and children undergoing chemotherapy loved and considered her hair to be her beauty and was traumatised by the loss of her locks. Currently, the free wig options available on the NHS are limited to fake synthetic wigs, with no options for women or children of colour.

Ruth’s fascination with wigs began in 2012 when she started to lose her hair due to the medication she was taking after her second liver transplant. It wasn’t until the 10-year anniversary of her cousin’s death to breast cancer (which was a result of a previous diagnosis of leukaemia), that she decided in tribute to her, she would address the lack of human hair wigs available to black women and children by becoming the only wig company in the UK to provide free human hair wigs, made to measure to black women and children who have suffered with hair loss as a result to illness and or medical treatment received.

We are in awe of Ruth’s vision and support her and the company wholeheartedly.”
