Akanji Studio & NHSBT will collaborate in Brixton
Explore the art reflecting Rizzy Akanji’s sickle cell journey and find out your own likely blood type.
Join us at Brixton House on either the 13th or 14th of February to learn why blood donation matters and the difference one appointment can make in saving lives. There will be an exhibition from Akanji Studio, blending visual art and poetry to tell the story of Rizzy Akanji.
Show some Love this Valentines day - Come to Brixton House to explore the art of Akanji Studio, and find out your likely blood type.
Every day in our community people rely on blood during childbirth, cancer treatment, sickle cell crises and medical emergencies. Making sure blood is always there when we need it relies entirely on people stepping forward and donating.
Sickle cell disorder is the fastest growing genetic blood condition in the UK, and we urgently need 16,000 more donors of Black heritage to meet the growing demand for ethnically matched blood for people living with the disorder.
Registering to become a blood donor only takes a few minutes and as part of the process you can find out your blood type with a quick finger prick test, understanding how your blood type is used and how you can help to save lives.
When will this event happen?
The exhibition event will run on February 13th and 14th (Friday and Saturday).
Where will the event take place
Brixton House, 385 Coldharbour Lane, London SW9 8GL
