A Memorial Tribute Celebrating 20 Years of the Legacy of DJ Swing
Sunday, 18 January, marks what would have been the 59th birthday of the late Brian Daley – known to so many as DJ Swing.
Brian was more than a DJ. He was a pioneer, a tastemaker and a deeply respected figure within the UK club scene throughout the 1990s. His passion for music, his generosity of spirit and his ability to bring people together left a lasting impression on dance floors and in hearts across the country. From his residencies at legendary club nights Fresh n Funky, Twice as Nice, Rotation and Cookies n Cream to his influence on a generation of selectors, Brian’s contribution to the
UK music culture remains undeniable.
The DJ Swing Tribute will take place on Saturday, 21 March 2026, featuring over 25 DJs, all of whom shared a connection with Brian and are donating their time in his honour.
His passing in March 2006 was a profound loss – mourned by the music industry, the ravers who filled those dancefloors, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him personally. To mark 20 years since Brian’s passing on 22 March 2006, his friends and fellow DJs are coming together for a very special one-off event to celebrate his life, his influence and the music he loved. The night will be a true reflection of Brian’s musical world, spanning Hip Hop, Swing, R&B, House, Garage, Jungle, Reggae, Soul, Boogie and Rare Groove – a journey through the sounds that defined an era and a man who helped shape it.
In the spirit of Brian’s generosity, the DJs and venue have all donated their services, with 100% of proceeds going to the ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust), a charity doing vital life-saving work within the community. This event will be held at the same venue where DJ Swing played a memorable set after winning his ‘Best DJ’ MOBO Award in 1998 – Sway Bar, 61–65 Great Queen Street, London WC2B 5BZ, from 6 pm until 2am, Advance Tickets priced from £15, available now via Skiddle. For those unable to attend, charitable donations can also be made. Life of Brian is an evening of remembrance, love and music – a chance to honour a life well lived and a legacy that continues to inspire.
