Am I your type? We're talking blood not love
“This event was an example of ACLT’s planned way forward, the willingness to donate blood must become the norm and we will work within these types of community events to make it happen. Are you with us?”
Beverley De-Gale OBE, ACLT Co-Founder
Team ACLT were honoured to work alongside the hugely popular events company ‘Slow Jams With A’, to host an event on Bank Holiday Monday (3rd May 2025). Our “Am I your type” campaign, set in a day party atmosphere managed to drive a demand that saw hundreds of Generation Z and Millennials queuing up to discover their blood type.
With their support, we successfully disrupted the party scene by seamlessly integrating our message about the importance of blood donation. We delivered this message in a way that resonated with their audience and inspired meaningful action. Our union was a huge success, their team were unbelievably accommodating, and they too took up the option to find out their blood types and to donate blood in the future, leading by example.

Over 200 people finding out their blood type and 40+ blood donation appointments booked.
Partnering with an events company whose marketing focuses on love matching, twin flames, and “finding your type on paper” made perfect sense – especially when we could shift the narrative to blood type matching and the life-saving potential that comes with it.
Who are Slow Jams With A?
Slow Jams With A is an events company that rose to prominence through social media. Their attentive, trend-aware approach – staying in tune with social conversations – along with nostalgic Y2K branding and audience-first marketing, has made their events a must-attend for Gen Z and millennial audiences. Their mission goes beyond taking their events global; they are also committed to supporting the communities who attend. That’s why partnering with ACLT to raise awareness about blood donation felt like a natural alignment. The Slow Jams With A team understood the importance of knowing your blood type and being informed about the sickle cell trait – particularly because two romantic partners who both carry the trait can pass the disorder on to their children.
What actually took place on the night of the event?
On the night, we took over Slow Jams With A’s popular LED widescreen to stream eye-catching messages related to blood types and health. Examples included “Don’t leave your health on read” and “Your type might be the one”. These playful yet impactful phrases caught the attention of the crowd and tied in perfectly with the event’s theme.
We handed out custom blood type stickers – styled in the distinctive Slow Jams With A branding – to every attendee who discovered their blood type. Stickers are a signature feature of the event’s culture, with many guests wearing them on their faces or body.
Throughout the night, the event host made several announcements directing the crowd towards our station, encouraging people to learn their blood type and register to become blood donors. A standout moment came from a special speech delivered by our co-founder, Orin Lewis OBE, who directly addressed the men in the audience, urging them to step forward and lead the way in signing up. This message was particularly important because men are generally better suited to donating blood regularly. They can donate more frequently than women, and regular male donors play a vital role in helping to meet the nearly 5,000 donations needed every single day.
The turnout was incredible, so much so that, after closing the session, we unfortunately had to turn people away. The queues were filled with attendees discussing blood types and sharing what they had learned about blood donation, showing that awareness was definitely present. To have converted over 40 people into new blood donors on the night is a testament to how successful the event truly was.
