Spring Soirée - I AM...
This past April, the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) hosted a heartwarming ‘Spring Soirée,’ bringing together blood cancer patients, supporters, and advocates for an unforgettable evening of Caribbean dining and entertainment. The event not only provided a joyous occasion for patients but also served as a platform to promote an exciting new initiative: a patient-led support group. The goal of the evening was to spark interest and encourage sign-ups for this vital support network.

The Spring Soirée was a vibrant celebration filled with laughter, music, and inspiring stories. Guests were treated to a delectable Caribbean dinner, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone in attendance. The evening was graced by a lineup of talented performers who generously donated their time and skills to support the cause.
Adelaide McKenzie – Singer
Adelaide McKenzie, a gifted singer, captivated the audience with her soulful voice. Although this was her first involvement with ACLT, Adelaide was well aware of the organisation’s impactful work.
Mr Cee – Comedian
The night was filled with laughter thanks to the hilarious Mr Cee. A long-time supporter of ACLT, Mr Cee has organised and performed at numerous comedy events to raise awareness for the trust.
Tosin Adeneye – Magician
Tosin Adeneye, a mesmerising magician, left the audience in awe with his mind-bending tricks. This was his first collaboration with ACLT, and his enchanting performance added a touch of magic to the evening.
Shaun Wallace – Guest Speaker
Renowned TV personality and quizmaster Shaun Wallace delivered a powerful and inspiring speech. Shaun is no stranger to ACLT events, having previously raised funds for the trust through various TV game shows and quiz events.
Mark Thompson – Spoken Word Artist
Mark Thompson moved the audience with his poignant spoken word performance. Mark’s connection to ACLT is deeply personal, as his wife Sarah was diagnosed with acute leukaemia, and together they have worked tirelessly with ACLT to promote the need for matching donors.
Oliver Greaves – DJ
The evening’s soundtrack was curated by DJ Oliver Greaves, who filled the venue with infectious energy and beats. Oliver shares a special bond with ACLT, having gone to secondary school with Daniel, a cherished member of the ACLT family who was lost too soon. Along with friends, Oliver and Daniel created music and wrote songs together during their university days, making his contribution to the event deeply sentimental.
A celebration of community & hope
The Spring Soirée was not just an event but a celebration of life, hope, and the enduring strength of the ACLT community. It highlighted the importance of coming together to support those battling blood cancer and the ongoing efforts to find matching donors and save lives. As the night drew to a close, guests left with full hearts, inspired by the stories shared and the performances witnessed.
